Lawrence "Sonny" Matthew Hammett III

Lawrence “Sonny” Matthew Hammett III, of Huntingtown, MD passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019. He was born in St Mary’s County, MD, the son of Eleanor Jean [Wathen] and the late Lawrence Matthew Hammett Jr. Sonny was an accomplished architect who enjoyed planning, designing, and constructing buildings. He was an avid golfer and competitive pool player. Over the years, he also enjoyed drag racing, arm wrestling, fishing, and surfing. He is survived by his three daughters; Jeanee Hammett, Julie Bhardwaj (Abhinav) and Janet Hammett, granddaughter; Alisha, longtime companion; Patti Pillor, a brother; Michael Hammett (Priscilla), three sisters; Debbie Brown (Rob), Donna Taylor (Mike), Michelle Miller (Jeff) and several nieces and nephews. Family invites friends to Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736 on Wednesday, September 25 from 6 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Jesus the Divine Word Catholic Church, 885 Cox Road, Huntingtown, MD 20639 on Thursday, September 26 at 11 am. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Road Clinton, MD, 20735.
