Family and friends were deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Leroy W.Barnes Jr. who entered into eternal rest on July 17, 2016 joining his wife Deborah Barnes. Leroy, son of Woodie & Edna Barnes was born on August 20th 1944 at Garfield Hospital, Washington, DC. A graduate of McKinley Tech High School, he attended DC's Teachers College for two years, worked as a skilled construction worker, later joining The Washington D.C. Police Department. Upon Leroy's retirement he became employed as a Safety Inspector working for Miller & Long and Chesapeake Contracting Group. Anyone who knew Leroy W. Barnes Jr. knew he was a man of many trades, a father to all of his children, Donna B. Powers of Annapolis, MD., Charles E. Barnes(Kimberly) of South Boston, Va., Jonathan Barnes(Stacey) of Hagerstown, MD.,Ivan Barnes(Tatheer) of Middletown, DE. and RokeiB. Spencer of Miami, FL. In addition to his children, he is survived by his brother William Barnes,sister Edna Barnes, grandchildren: David Freeman Jr. Denisa M. Freeman, Swayne J. Powers Jr., Quionna Barnes, Breonna Barnes, Charles Barnes Jr. Michael Barnes, Shalita Barnes Carolina, Kaylan Redmond, Arielle Barnes, Josiah Barnes, Benjamin Barnes & Tabitha Barnes, a host of great grandchildren and good friends. Leroy's love for working on cars was something he did in his spare time. He loved country music, a good cigar and his Harley Davidson motorcycle, always staying busy working on motors together or taking them apart. Leroy was always willing to help or give to others in a time of need. He will be dearly missed by all.
