Linda S. Frey lived a vibrant, loving 94 years surrounded throughout her life by family and friends. She made friends wherever she went and had many from her life in Kentucky, Virginia, Maryland and Florida. She passed away peacefully at her home in Upper Marlboro where she lived with her surviving baby sister Patricia (Patty) Floria (82) and Patricia’s husband George (83). She heartbreakingly left behind not only her sister but her niece and nephew for whom she was like a mother. We will remember Linda’s happy nature and deep seeded love for us all as journeyed through this life with her. Aunt Linda had a heart as big as the ocean and was there to help whenever needed. To know her was to know unconditional love. She had a generous soul and not just to her family and friends; throughout her life she gave back to her communities through various charities and hospitals. If there was a party happening, she’d be right in the middle of it having a grand time and she was always the life of the party. Her smile and laughter are a memory that brings a smile to your face. She was quick witted and could keep you in stitches! If you ever asked her how she was doing you’d get the sassy response – “everyone I can and the good ones twice”. Her one-liner quips are going to be missed as is her love and compassion for the people in her life, especially family. Aunt Linda and her beloved husband Dr. Cornelius (Neal) P. Frey were avid golfers who traveled and played at country clubs around the States with friends and family. She loved a good card game and in her later years she enjoyed “hand and foot” best, and boy don’t mess up if you were her partner! This was serious stuff. We will miss those card games with her. Looking back over the photos of her life reminds of those good times and that Linda was a vibrant, gorgeous woman inside and out who showered us all with love. Linda journeyed from Paducah, KY where she left her parents and 7 siblings to move to Washington, D.C. at age 18. She enjoyed an exciting career with Edmond’s Opticians on K Street, in Washington, D.C. as an Administrative Assistant for nearly 15 years. She and her sister often met downtown to go shopping or to attend a party here and there. She and Neal married in 1975 and it was a love story like no other! When I think about them as a couple and remember the love they had for each other, it warms my heart and brings hope that true love really does exist in this world. She was the love of Neal’s life, and he was hers. It is so hard to express the beauty of Linda in a few words. I am struggling to convey the emotion and love we all felt for her and to help you understand the hole we now feel in our worlds. There is so much to tell, we will always talk about her and keep her memory alive.
