Linwood Murphy Longus II, 37, entered into eternal peace on Monday, January 25, 2016. Linwood was born in Portsmouth, NH to Linwood and Ruby Longus on September 25, 1978. He was the last of three children and “baby boy”. Linwood was a military brat who traveled to many places both in the US and abroad. He later set roots in Upper Marlboro, MD. He was educated in the Prince George’s County School System where he graduated from Frederick Douglas High School. He attended University of Maryland at College Park, and then earned his Bachelor’s degree from Bowie State University in Biology. Linwood served his community by entering the science profession creating vaccinations to include H1-N1. Linwood joined Maureen Shaw in Holy Matrimony on July 28, 2007. Linwood touched the lives of many through his work and his service. He was devoted to the children, often by volunteering his time to mentoring, tutoring, and coaching club football. Linwood was an avid lover of cars and his 1992 Volkswagen GTI was his prized possession. He was an active member of VdubLuv Car Club and enjoyed the comradery amongst its members. Linwood had a love of sports. He enjoyed professional sports as well as watching his nephews excel in both basketball and football. Linwood’s humor, generosity, hearty laugh, and kindness will always be remembered. Linwood is survived by his loving wife, Maureen; beloved foster son, Kire’; devoted parents Linwood and Ruby Longus; adored grandmothers, Doris Williams and Evelyn C. Longus; cherished sisters and their husbands, Yulanda Fox (Brian) and Danielle Hyatt (Oneil); nieces and nephews, Chanel, DeVante, Kashief, Imani, Darius, Jayla, Jayel, Kennedy, Dezijah, and great niece, Kaileigh, and a host of other family, friends, and neighbors.
