Lois Ann Martilla passed away gently in her sleep during the early morning of September 11, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Lois Ann Peck on January 17, 1935 in Washington, DC. She graduated from Burdick Business School and was secretary to the Dean of the University of Maryland in College Park, MD. On December 31, 1954, Ann was joined in marriage with Marvin K. Martilla, of Valley City, North Dakota, with whom she raised two daughters, Pam and Kim. She was preceded in death by her husband who passed in February 2001. In the following years, she enjoyed alternating stays in both her daughters homes until 2012 when she and Pam took up their own residence in Churchton, MD. There, in her seventies, she helped remodel an unappreciated house into a warm welcoming home, with a table of jigsaw puzzles, and a refrigerator full of home cooked meals. Her special focus was on preparing family get-together's, renewing holiday decorations, and getting outdoors regularly to achieve a beautifully mowed lawn. Ann is survived by her daughters Pamela Martilla Parise, of Churchton, MD and Kimberly Martilla Miles, of Sunderland, MD, and granddaughters, Alexandra Nicole Parise of Charleston, SC, Jenna Marie Parise of Columbia, SC, Allison Renee Miles and Ashlee Christine Miles of Sunderland, MD. Friends may call on Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 5 to 8 pm at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel; followed by burial in Washington National Cemetery, Suitland, MD.
