Lola Irene Withers, 81, of Clinton, Maryland, passed away on March 11, 2021. She loved many things including warm hugs, reading, recipes, music, watching the animals in her yard, her flowers and trees, and of course her children and grandchildren. But above all else, she had a strong faith in God and never wavered on the fact that Christ was the center of her life and heart. Lola was born in Dumas, Texas to Harold and Irene Lipper on February 15th, 1940. She went to school at Sam Houston High School where she thrived in theatre, choir and the student council. She graduated and went on to attend Texas Tech University where she met her husband-to-be, Patrick Theron Withers. They were married on August 25th, 1960 in Arlington, Virginia. She worked at the Pentagon in a high clearance position and later went on to work for Siemens, ITE. For many years she sang as an alto in her church choir and later served as an elder of Clinton Presbyterian Church where she made many lifelong friends. Lola is preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Irene Lipper, father, Harold Ward Lipper and brother Donald Harold Lipper. We know she is celebrating a grand reunion with them in heaven. They are surely enjoying laughter, happy hour and family adventures in the great outdoors just like old times. Lola is survived by her children, Patricia Lorene McDorman (Dwayne Paul McDorman), Judith Lee Dickson (John Thomas Dickson, Jr.), Elizabeth Joy Withers and her grandchildren, Wesley Ray McDorman, Heather Amanda Dickson, Christopher David Dickson, John Thomas Dickson III, and her nephews, Christopher Joel Lipper and Byron Harold Lipper. The warmth of her voice and heart will carry on in us until we meet her embrace in heaven. The McDorman and Dickson families wish to extend our sincere thanks to Elizabeth Joy Withers for the care, love and sacrifice she gave to see that Mom’s wishes to stay in her home were granted. A private memorial will be held in her honor on April 11th, 2021.
