Larry, a longtime resident of Upper Marlboro, MD, was called home by our Heavenly Father at the age of 83.

 

In his passing, he now joins his:
Parents: Antonio Reyes Cruz and Asuncion Aguon Concepcion
Grandson: Jeremiah Cruz, Jr.
Son: Christopher Savory Cruz
Brothers, Sisters, and Spouses: Miguel and Rosa Hongyee Cruz; Quintina C. and Pedro Quitugua; Mariano C. and Rita Untalan Cruz; Ana C. and Carlos Taijeron Cruz; Isabel C. and Juan Salas Santos/Jose Tedtaotao Rosario; Rosa C. and Jose Enclavea Perez; and Irving Langworthy.

 

His memories will always be remembered by his:

Larry was born in Anigua, Guam. He grew up in Sinajana, where he was active in the community and island-wide sports program, playing baseball, softball, basketball, and football. He graduated from George Washington High School. After graduation, he was employed by Pan American Airlines. Larry enlisted in the United States Air Force and went on to serve 30 years, retiring at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. His assignments included: Air Training Command, Lackland Air Force Base (AFB), San Antonio, TX; Technical School, Amarillo AFB, TX; 37th Munitions Maintenance Squadron, Walker AFB, Roswell, NM; 79th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron, Andersen AFB, GU; Detachment 10, 38th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron, Bien Thuy Air Base, South VN; 1155th Technical Operations Squadron, McClellan AFB, Sacramento, CA; US Naval Facility, Ritidian Point, GU; Headquarters (HQ), North American Air Defense Command, Cheyenne Mountain Complex, Colorado Springs, CO; Southwest Pacific Region, Defense Communication Agency, Clark Air Base, PH; HQ, Air Force Systems Command, Andrews AFB, MD; and HQ, USAF, Pentagon, Washington, DC.

After his military service, Larry was employed with the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), Washington, DC, as the Educator Recruiter and Educator Licensure Certification Officer. In 1997, when the DoDEA schools were established in Guam, Larry was sent to Guam to recruit educators to staff the schools. Larry was instrumental in the successful establishment of the DoDEA Guam Schools. He served with the DoDEA for 15 years, retiring in June 2007.

Founded in 2011 by Chamorro veterans, Larry is one of the three Co-Founders and National Coordinators. NOCVA seeks to organize and unite members at the grassroots level to speak with one voice and leverage their political power in the 50 states to represent, honor, and work on behalf of all Chamorros and their families.
