Beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend, Louise Hewitt died in her sleep at home on October 23, 2021, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Lou grew up in Hollywood, Maryland and later lived in Clinton, Maryland and Fort Washington, Maryland. She provided a loving and warm home for her husband and children while also working in several part-time retail positions. Lou is predeceased by her parents Thomas Alvin and Dorothy Garner Hayden, her brothers “little” Alvin, William “Lefty” and Charles Garner Hayden as well as her sisters Regina James and Caroline Murphy and her little boy Craig Alan Hewitt. Lou is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, Joseph Alphonso Hewitt, and her children, Thomas Alphonso Hewitt (Lyn Hill), Joseph Keith Hewitt (Loretta Hewitt), John Kermit (Jack) Hewitt and Lynne Hewitt Engledow (Wells Engledow), as well as her dear grandson, Reid William Engledow. Lee Funeral Home in Clinton, Maryland is handling arrangements for the family.
