Mabel H. Garner Mabel H. Garner, age 93 of Mitchellville, MD died Monday, October 27 at the Prince George’s Hospital Center, Cheverly, MD. She is the beloved wife of the late John “Shorty” Garner and Godmother of Barbara Pinkham of Annapolis, MD. Aunt of Anne Brophe of Dunkirk and Mary Lee Vann of St. Leonard, MD. She is also survived by the Wyville cousins of Croom, MD, numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. Born in Norfolk, Virginia at age 5 she moved to the Washington Metropolitan Area where she lived most of her life. After retiring from the American Red Cross as an Administrative Assistant in 1975, she moved to Florida, but relocated to Maryland after the death of her husband in 2001. She was a member of NARFE (National Assoc. of Retired Federal Employees) and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Venice Florida. Her hobbies included cooking, shopping, enjoying her family and friends, doing crossword puzzles and rooting for the Redskins. Family invite friends to call at the Lee Funeral Home Calvert, PA 8125 Southern Maryland Blvd. (Rt. 4 and Fowler Road) Owings, MD on Saturday September 1, 2008 from 12 noon until time of services at 1PM.
