In Loving Memory of Maida Kathryn Vaughan Cobbins April 1, 1937 - June 8, 2019 Celebrating the Life of Maida Kathryn Vaughan Cobbins In her own words Maida Kathryn Vaughan Cobbins, 82, of Forestville, Maryland, departed this life on June 8, 2019. She was born on April 1, 1937 in Farmville, Virginia, to Howard S. Vaughan, Jr. and Dorothy J. Vaughan. Maida Kathryn was a 1954 graduate of Huntington High School in Newport News, Virginia, and received an undergraduate degree from Hampton Institute in 1958. She did further studies at the University of Maryland and Bowie State University. She married George D. Cobbins of Lynchburg, Virginia, in 1957, and shared a military life as she pursued a teaching career. She taught in Culpeper, Virginia; Dayton Ohio; Tucson, Arizona; and Prince George’s County, Maryland. She leaves to cherish in her memory: her husband, George Cobbins; a daughter, Maida Kay Robinson (Jack); grandsons, Jason Robinson and Marcus Robinson; sister, Ann Vaughan Hammond; brother, Leonard S. Vaughan (Mary); and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Kenneth, Donald, and Michael Vaughan. Interment Maida Kathryn Vaughan Cobbins will be laid to rest in the beautiful and historic Arlington National Cemetery, in Arlington, Virginia, across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C.
