Margaret “Peggy” Adeline Weir, 101, of Upper Marlboro, MD passed away September 5, 2023.
Margaret was born September 25, 1921 in Worcester, MA to the late John and Mary Case. She last worked in retail, and spent most of her life caring for her family as a homemaker. She graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester, Massachusetts and upon her future husband’s return from World War II in Germany, was wed and became a military wife. They and their growing family lived on or around many Air Force bases throughout the United States and in Brazil. Upon her husband’s retirement from the Air Force they returned to their house in Upper Marlboro. In retirement as before, she was very involved in the numerous activities of the Air Force wives’ clubs and as well as a close circle of mostly military wives. This continued for the 20 years she lived independently following Richard’s passing.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her stepmother Jane Case, husband Richard “Dick” Weir, brother John “Jack” Case, sister Mary Nordberg, niece Mary Frances Nordberg, granddaughter Stephanie Weir and daughter-in-law Tracey Weir.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Richard Weir (Linda), William Weir (Nanette), Robert Weir, and Peter Weir, grandchildren Mandarin Bowers-Rubenstein (David), Richard “Chad” Bowers (Sarah), Andrea Markish (Ryan), Christopher Weir, and Robert Weir Jr, great-granddaughters Zoe, Sophia, and Rose Bowers, great-grandsons Connor and Max Markish, and devoted relatives and friends including Sonja Bowers, Annick Butler and Gail Abbott.
A visitation will be held 10:00am-12:00pm Friday, September 15, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 8908 Old Branch Ave, Clinton, MD 20735, where a funeral mass will follow at 12:00pm. Interment in Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, 11301 Crain Hwy, Cheltenham, MD 20623, will be announced at a later date.
