It was on April 21, 2018, that Marian A. Coleman-Kennedy completed her mission on earth and transitioned to her heavenly seat, at the age of 56. Born in Washington, DC the daughter of Janice Ann (Craven) Rawlings and Herbert Elsworth Lewis, Sr. Marian grew up in the District of Columbia, and was a proud graduate from Potomac High School, Class of 1980. It was during this period that she married and raised her two beloved children Kelly and Anthony. She began a career with Capitol Air Filter Corporation as an administrative assistant. She retired after 28 faithful years of service, due to health issues. When she worked, she met and fell in love with Ray, who worked as a Bus Mechanic for Metro, which was across the street. He admired her from a distance for several weeks before he built up the courage to introduce himself to her, since then they have shared life and love for the past 30 years. If you met Marian, you would never forget her. Charisma and grace were attributes that she showered on every person she met. She greeted everyone with her warm and friendly smile and outgoing personality. Ambitious, full of life and love, Marian could put anyone at ease with her humorous words of encouragement or the jokes she shared. While just a snapshot of Marian’s life, all who knew her- knew she lived for God’s eternal reward. Marian loved to travel and go on cruises with her family. She enjoyed the beach, burying her toes in the sand and soaking up the days beautiful rays of sunshine. Marian forged special friendships with others that would last until her final days. She will be reunited with family and friends - socializing and dancing. Music, laughter, and love is guaranteed and the food is delicious. She will be missed. She was a faithful member of The Spirit of the Living God Christian Center, where she served as a Missionary, Deaconess and Trustee under the leadership of Bishop Billy St. James and fellow members. She leaves to cherish her memories, her beloved husband Ray Kennedy of Temple Hills, MD; loving mother Janice Ann Rawlings of District Heights, MD; cherished children Kelly Coleman of Ft. Washington, MD, Anthony Coleman (Cynthia Coleman) of Washington, DC and Fred Coleman of VA; dear siblings Lora Marshall of District Heights, MD and David Lewis of District Heights, MD; sweetest grandchildren Kayla Dailey, Malia Coleman, Aaron Green and Arianna Coleman. She also leaves behind several relatives and friends.
