Marilyn Ray Tandy was born in Murray, Kentucky on January 8, 1949 to the late Floyd Allen and Nettie Mae Cogdell. She attended Douglas Elementary School, finished high school from Murray High and for two years, attended Murray University majoring in Elementary Education. For as long as everyone can remember, she has been by our sides to give support, confidence and help. It takes a positive attitude to remain optimistic and to rise to challenges of being a mom. She is strong, so sensitive and pretty. Marilyn got married to Milton Tandy on August 8, 1970 and over the next 30 years had three beautiful daughters. For as long as we all can remember she has always provided stability within our family full of laughter. Even at work, Marilyn was such a good person to have as a coworker. She would always go above and beyond to help when she could. She worked for the Department of the Army as an Enlisted Personnel Specialist for nearly 30 years of Federal Civilian Service. As years went on, Marilyn would have some health issues that would scare or worry the average person but not her. Marilyn’s strength was tested but she was strong, kept the faith and always kept fighting. Marilyn was always able to bring the best out of people and situations. At her most trying times, she could always melt your heart with a smile, hug or something sweet to say, but don’t forget the sass! She leaves behind her husband of 48 years, Milton Tandy, daughters Cynthia Raye Tandy, Tamika Tawana Tandy & Marilyn Lynnett Tandy, her precious granddaughter Skylar DanaRaye Riley, 2 sisters Linda Sue Smith & Judy Michelle Palmer, her brother Wesley Allen Cogdell and a host of family and friends.
