Mark Hinton July 25, 1958 — December 30, 2024

Mark Hinton, 66, of Waldorf, MD, went to his heavenly Home on December 30, 2024. Born in Washington, DC, the third child welcomed by his parents, Carmen and William Hinton. Mark was a unique individual who was born with Down’s Syndrome.

He lived a full life. As a child, he participated in the Special Olympics. Throughout his life, Mark loved getting dressed up, especially for parties, where he lit up the dance floor. He was not a shy fellow. He worked the room, asked all the ladies for a dance and freestyled like no other. One of his great passions was music. He would sing, play the guitar and the keyboard later in life. He enjoyed bowling, basketball and was a passionate football fan. Commanders, forever Redskins to Mark, was his team. Teaching Mark to ride a bike became a group effort from his brothers and sisters. Eventually he caught on and was able to ride right along with his family. Patrolling the neighborhood on his bike, with his radio blasting his favorite music, became his daily routine.

As Mark grew older, he transitioned into Providence, a home where he quickly bonded with his caregivers and roommates. He loved them deeply and they also became his family. He thrived there, developing new talents that included painting. He is remembered as a person who was always quick to smile and offered unconditional love to those he met.

Mark is survived by his brothers Jay and Warren Hinton and his sister Lisa Queen and her husband Daniel; cherished uncle of Alicia Christenson, Aaron Hinton, Rachel Hypes and Danielle Kollock; great uncle of Carter Hinton, Sadie Hypes and Bailey McGahee. Those who lived, loved and cared for Mark also included his roommates Kathy Goodman and Richard Asmussen; his caregivers Tina Primrose, Glenda Gather, Terrance Harriston, Aaron Singleton, Delores Evans, Rashida Bangura and Olukemi Omotosho. He is predeceased by his parents, the late Carmen and William Hinton, his brother Kevin Hinton and sister, Karen Hills.
