He also ran the Navy Geodetic Satellite Program while assigned to the Bureau of Naval Weapons. His last active duty post was as Deputy Director(Production) of the Naval Oceanographic Office in Suitland, MD.After retiring from active duty in 1970 he remained active in the mapping and charting field, primarily with the Defense Mapping Agency. He served as Direcor of Programs and Production at the DMA Hydrographic Center, Technical Director of the DMA Aerospace Center and Director of Systems and Techniques at DMA Headquarters. He is survived by two sons, Mark B. His wife, Evelyn was truly ans excellent pianist, and he was attracted to her for many reasons, but also partially because of her superb musical abilities. He was a wonderful father who put his family before his career. He went to work very early in the morning, but he was always home for dinner. He took out family camping frequently, and instilled in us a love for Gods beautiful creation. He was a quiet spiritual person, who would never cause another person to stumble in their spirtual walk. He saw the way a person could be driven from the church by over zealous individuals. He had a wonderful, dry, sense of humor, In his later years, life was not easy or comfortable, but he never complained, and he tolerated a lot. He was a very pleasant person to be around, and we love him and miss him. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Mark Morris Macomber please visit our Sympathy Store.
