Marlena Florence Ellis

Marlena Florence Ellis was born on February 21, 1933, to the late Johnnie and Thomasine Bingham in Washington, DC. She was the oldest of five children born to that union. She graduated from Cardozo High School. Marlena met and married Paul Richard Ellis and had one daughter from their union, Lisa M. English. On January 25, 2023, she went home to be with the Lord and has joined her loved ones that went to rest before her.

 

Marlena was employed in retail for many years before beginning her Federal Government career with the Treasury Department, Bureau of the Public Debt.  After 25 years of Federal Government service, numerous performance awards, accomplishments and achievements, Marlena retired in 1993. During retirement, Marlena enjoyed spending time with close friends and family while also celebrating the birth of her grandson, Paul English, and spending much of her time loving and raising him.

 

Marlena was a great cook and enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family that she cooked with love. She also enjoyed decorating her home.

 

Marlena is now in God’s loving care. She is survived by her devoted and loving daughter, Lisa M. English; son-in-law, Victor A. English; her grandson, Paul A. English; two granddaughters, Jaleah English and Skylar English; her two sisters-in-law, Barbara Bingham and Dorothy Bingham; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Marlena was preceded in death by her late husband, Paul R. Ellis and her two sisters, Thomasine Bingham Hill and Annie Foreman; two brothers, William Bingham and Johnnie Bingham
