Mary Louise Cox, 103, passed away on the morning of September 24th at the Golden Living Center in Waynesburg, PA. Born to Antonia and Emidio Pinto, she was the eldest daughter of eight children, all of whom stayed close throughout their lives. Mary was quick to laugh and loved people; her home was so often a gathering point for family and friends and the din of the latest game on t.v. was always background to conversation and high spirits. She was both caretaker and diplomat of the family. Mary always made sure those around her had “enough” — attention, food, everything else. Her generosity of spirit, her magnanimity, was her great strength and her enduring trait. In later years, as Mary succumbed to the relentlessness of Alzheimer’s disease, she held fast to her benevolence. Often, she was known as a joy. Mary is survived by her son and his wife, Robert Cox and Tonda Varelli, and her daughter Donna Wetzel as well as her grandchildren, Laura and Robert Wetzel, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Cox, also of Camp Springs, MD. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to The Alzheimer's Foundation of America. www.alzfdn.org
