Mary Elizabeth Foster died on August 25, 2010, at the age of 83 after a long battle with Alzeimer’s. In 2005, Solomon’s Nursing Center became her home and she passed away peacefully there with family by her side.\n \nShe was born on June 30, 1927 in Croom, Maryland to Mary Agnes (Rawlings) Thomas Windsor.\n \nMary was the beloved wife of Lindy Foster for over 37 years. They lived in Landover, Maryland prior to their move to Huntingtown, Maryland in 1990. This move allowed Mary to be closer to her family and able to help care for her children and grandchildren. Her family was the focus of her life.\n \nShe was the loving mother of Jeannie Powers, James Gardiner, Clyde Jones, Norman Walker, Jr., Brenda Rountree, Terry Horning, Everette Walker and the late Arthur Jones, Jr., and Margie Baughman. She also had 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. \n \nMary is also survived by four sisters, Grace Sibley, Sadie Drummond, Delores Powers and Betty Vermillion.\n \nIn 1992, Mary retired from the Prince Georges Public School System. The next ten years, she worked as the manager of the Country Club Garden Apartments in Landover, Maryland. \n \nMary loved to go shopping. With a family this large, it gave her plenty of opportunities. Holidays were very important events for Mary and she enjoyed every minute of them.\n \nMary is preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur Talbot, Sr. and her second husband, Norman Walker, Sr. Also her brothers, Joseph, Earl, Russell and George Rawlings.\n \nMemorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, National Capital Area Chapter 3701 Pender Drive, Suite 400, Fairfax, Virginia 22030.\n \nFriends are welcome to sign Mary’s memorial register book.
