Mary Elizabeth King\nMary Elizabeth King departed this life on Sunday, March 27, 2011. Elizabeth was born on January 9, 1932 in Ash County, West Jefferson, North Carolina to Scott O. and Louise Neely Cox. She grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina where she attended the Greensboro Public Schools.\nMary Elizabeth accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age in Greensboro, North Carolina. She relocated to Washington, D.C. and joined the First Baptist Church of Deanwood. She was a member of the Usher Board. She was a housewife for many years living in Brandywine, Maryland with her husband and five children. She served as the President of the Ladies Auxiliary with the Brandywine Fire Department and participated in the many activities where she served the needs of the children in the community. Later in her life she accepted a position at the Southern Maryland Hospital where she worked for over 20 years as an Environmental Service Worker. She had many hobbies and interests which included knitting, crochet, bingo, travelling, baking and cooking. She became a member of Mt. Ennon Baptist Church and a member of the Golden Circle, and the House of Isaiah at Mt. Ennon.\nMary Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Everett Carniece King. She is survived by her five children, Barbara R. Bridges, Clarence J. Hancock (Doreen), Sheila L. King, Everett L. King (Marcie) and Karl Z. King (Shelley); seven grandchildren, Charles Blount, Sheneise O'Meally, Brandon Bridges, Roxanne King, Anita King, Marcus King, Mileah King; one sister Billie Neely; one brother Alexander Neely; three sisters-in-law, Juanita Deskins, Bernice King and Geneva Cox; good friends Ms. Lanie, Ms. Bernice and Ms. Lil; and a host of relatives and friends.\n To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Mary Elizabeth King please visit our Sympathy Store.
