Mary Alice Nelson, 62, of Mitchellville, MD suddenly passed away on November 21, 2023.
Mary was born December 11, 1960, in Washington, DC to James B. and Alice A. Nelson.
Mary was educated at Crossland High School in Camp Springs, MD. After high school, she enlisted in the United States Army to serve her country and fulfill her dreams of traveling. After her military service, she proudly worked her way from clerk to manager in the automotive parts sales industry. After leaving sales, she worked in various customer service and management roles
until retirement. Mary was hard-working, determined, and passionate about causes she believed in. She enjoyed reading, thrifting, coming up with creative recipes, and taking care of animals. She loved all animals but had a special heart for dogs. She also loved the Washington Commanders, Coca-Cola, traveling to the mountains, and anything that was purple.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alice A. Nelson and James B. Nelson (Sr.), sister, Judy Hoyer as well as her brothers-in-law, Jim Hoyer and Larry Batch.
She is survived by her daughter, Amanda and son-in-law, Zeven Love. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Shiloh, Noah, Zane, and Judah Love. She is survived by her siblings, Helen N. Batch, James B. Nelson, Jr. and sister-in-law, Jaime Goldenfield Nelson, as well as her sister, Kathy Brown and brother-in-law, Billy Brown. She leaves behind her cherished nephews and nieces, Nick, Laura, Sarah, Will, Krista, Charles, Patrick, and Alison. She will be greatly missed by her friends, Sandy, Louise, Tabatha, Theresa, Betty, Regina, Tee, and Bobbie.
A memorial visitation will be held in honor and celebration of Mary's life 2:00-4:00pm Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Lee Funeral Home, 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Rd. Clinton, MD 20735, where a funeral service will take place the following day, at 10:00am on Friday, December 8, 2023. Interment will take place immediately following the funeral service in Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Rd. Clinton, MD 20735.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SPCA/Humane Society of Prince George’s County.
