Mary Catherine Paduda, 88, of Upper Marlboro, Md., died January 19, 2024.
Born January 9, 1936, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of Margaret Mack Paduda and Michael J. Paduda Sr.
Mary grew up in the Fairlawn Village neighborhood of Southeast Washington, where she graduated from St. Teresa's Catholic Grade School in Anacostia.
After high school graduation from St. Cecilia's Academy in 1953, she started her career with the Central Intelligence Agency, retiring in 1991 with 38 years of service.
In her younger years, Mary loved to go dancing with her many friends. After becoming a homeowner in 1979, she enjoyed cutting grass and gardening.
She was an avid reader of James Patterson's books. A caring and loving person, Mary was very close to her family and friends and loved spending time with them.
She is survived by sisters Margaret Bates and Patricia Farmer (Mike); sister-in-law Mary Bush Paduda; nieces Sharon Dvorak, Peggy Campbell and Marcie Braswell (Kevin); nephews Marty Bates (Mary Beth), Tim Bates (Stephanie), and Mickey Paduda (Kim); great-nieces Jenna Dvorak (Alex), Claire Bates Glenn (Trevor), Mary Kyser Braswell, Georgia and Elis Paduda; great-nephews Ty Campbell (Katherine), Jeremy Dvorak (Kelly), Jason Dvorak (Cortney), Ben Bates (Emma), Luke Bates (Jenna), Billy Braswell and Mack Paduda; great-great nieces Krista Kuli (Sean), Karli Ficociello, Hadley Bates and Lilly Daisey; great-great nephews Maximus Dvorak-Meath, Carter, Emmett and Lincoln Ficociello, and Luca Kuli; and her dear friends Michael Cunningham and Marc Ferrara.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother Michael J.
Paduda Jr., brother-in-law Cliff Bates and nephew-in-law Glenn Campbell.
Visitation will be Monday, January 29, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial following at 11 a.m. at Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church's St. Joseph Center,11700 Duley Station Road, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in Mary's name may be made to American Heart Association, 1150 Connecticut Ave. NW Ste. 300,
