Mary Louise Ellerman Temple (Mary Lou), 86, of Upper Marlboro, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2020. Beloved wife of 61 years of Stanley (pre deceased), loving mother of David (Kathy), Victor and Melissa. Youngest daughter of Karl and Mable Ellerman and sister to Dorothy Moore, Douglas Ellerman and JoAnn Law (all predeceased). Mary Lou was blessed to have 3 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many, many friends. Mary Lou was a native Washingtonian, born and raised in South East D.C. She graduated from Eastern High School and worked for various Government agencies for 25 years, over a 40 year period. She retired from Naval Air Systems Command in 1992. Mary Lou was a 68 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Ladies Auxillary Tall Cedars of Lebanon and also a member then later an advisor for the International Order of Job’s Daughters for many years where she mentored hundreds of young women. Upon her retirement she began volunteering at the National Archives and enjoyed many wonderful years working as a docent, especially the years that she volunteered for the Presidential Gifts program during President Bill Clinton and President George W. Bush’s presidencies. Mary Lou was a member of Cheltenham United Methodist Church, where she loved to be involved in the Book Club and the annual bazaar among other things. She loved sewing and crafting and over the years had tried pretty much most crafts imaginable. She was a wonderful cook and at one time catered weddings. She loved to travel and always said, “If somebody asks me to go somewhere, I say what time!! “. She will be interred with her husband at Cheltenham Veteran’s cemetery, but due to Covid-19 limitations, it will be private. Mary Lou loved to tell stories, so it is only fitting that a celebration of Life will be held at a later date when we can properly tell lots of stories about her life. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Marlboro Churches Food Bank, c/o Trinity Episcopal Church, P. O. Box 187 Upper Marlboro, MD 20772 or Community Support Systems, P.O.
