Granddaughters; Caitlin and Kendall. Siblings; Rudy, Celeste, Mike, Monica, Sandi and Denise, many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Matt had many interests. He loved his family time, making multiple trips to the beach every year, riding and taking care of his Harley, Beetlejuice, building model cars, feeding the birds and squirrels and more recently whittling. He loved classic rock and roll and the blues. He volunteered at the Chesapeake Cares Food Pantry for the past 7 years, where he logged over 1,000 hours helping his community. Known as “Wawa Matt” by the food pantry volunteers, he would pick up the weekly donations from the local Wawa stores and bring them to the food pantry for distribution throughout the community. Matt enjoyed helping others in so many ways. Matt retired in 2014 after working 35 years at the World Bank in Washington, D.C. as a supervisory building engineer. Donations can be made in his memory at www.Chesapeakechurch.org/foodpantry, under the “Give” option, using the “Fund” drop down box where you can choose his name. A Celebration of Life will be planned for later in the year.
