Maurice P. Fisher

Maurice Fisher, 89, of Chesapeake Beach, MD passed away on September 18, 2022. Maurice was born on April 20, 1933. He grew up in Washington DC, the son of Edna and Edward Fisher and brother to Louise, George, Nellie and Margie.  Maurice joined the Army in 1953 and became a paratrooper, which he loved. He always said there was nothing like the feeling you get when jumping out of a plane. After his military service he was a firefighter in Washington, DC. He moved to Chesapeake Beach, MD in the 60's. There, he lived near and helped take care of both his parents.

Maurice loved spending time riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, a true passion. He also had a love of aviation stemming from his time in the military and at one point even took up flying lessons. Maurice was usually a quiet man of few words but he also had a wonderful sense of humor, dry and witty.

He is survived by his twin sister, Margie Hunter, of Rockville, MD. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews, Jackie Johnson of Santee, SC, Ted Lewis of Meter, GA, Cheryl Posey of Crystal River, FL, Kathy Hutton of Rotunda West, FL, Steve Parker of Ft. Myers, FL, Martha Wynn Burgess of NC, U.S. Navy Ret. Chaplain Beverly Parry of NC, Bill Hunter, Jr. of Morgantown, WV, Karen Selwyn of Ijamsville, MD, Brenda Gruber of Mt. Airy, MD, Sue Jones of Shady Side, MD and their families. He will also be remembered by his good friends, Marianne and Jeanne.
