Merle Lusby Sasscer

Merle Lusby Sasscer, 81, of Upper Marlboro, MD passed away June 8th, 2021. Merle was born on November 27, 1939 to the late William Thomas Sasscer and Mildred Lusby Sasscer and raised in Upper Marlboro MD. He was the youngest of five children and possessed a strong work ethic and witty sense of humor. These qualities were evident to all who knew him. In 1957, Merle graduated from Frederick Sasscer HS and began working at B.A. Coe Company in Washington, D.C. After 48 years of dedicated service he retired, but enjoyed staying busy so much that he took a job at Ripple's Auto Parts in Upper Marlboro and worked for another 13 years. He enjoyed his work. As a member of Trinity Assembly of God in Lanham Md where he raised his family and attended Trinity for 53 years, Merle was dedicated to serving in the Bus Ministry, Nursing Home Ministry, and Children’s Church. He loved the Lord with all his heart and showed that love through helping those around him. Merle was preceded in death by his siblings: Virginia Sasscer, William Sasscer, and Elmer Sasscer. He is survived by his sister, Ruth Baker. He leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Renda Louise (Gossett) Sasscer. He was a loving husband and devoted father. Merle and Renda had five children: Roberta Sasscer, Richard Sasscer, (Joyce Sasscer), the late Sue Petric (Mark Petric), Melinda Sheranko (Matthew Sheranko), and Pamela Mancini (Russell Mancini). Caring grandfather of: Heidi Archer, Jessica Sasscer, Holly Archer, Daniel Petric, Michael Sasscer, Eric Sheranko, Lauren Sheranko, Alex Sheranko, Mackenzie Mancini, and Rachael Mancini. Beloved great grandfather of: Ayla Archer, Titus Archer, Ivan Archer, and Luvia Archer. Friends and family are invited to a viewing on Monday June 28th at 4-7pm at Lee Funeral Home, 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Rd, Clinton, MD 20735. The second viewing on Tuesday June 29th at 10:30 am, and the Funeral service at 11:00 am, are both located at Trinity Assembly of God, 7800 Good Luck Rd Lanham, MD 20706. Interment immediately following at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman Beantown Rd, Waldorf, MD 20601.
