Merva L. Underwood 1922 - 2013 Merva L. Underwood, 91, of Newburg, MD on Friday August 9, 2013 in LaPlata, MD. Born in St. Louis, MO. She was a daughter of the late Edward F. and Margaret (Crump) McClure. She was married to the late Francis W. Underwood. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing bingo and the slots, crocheting, sewing, cooking and canning, traveling, playing cards, and spending time with her family. She was an avid Redskins fan. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus and the Allentown Road Vol. Fire Co. #47. She was also active in her church activities. She is survived by 12 children, Mickey Underwood, Billy Underwood (Dottie), Judy Hicks (Calvin), Betty Brown, Sue Lerner (Joe), Kathy Underwood (Juris), Pete Underwood (Mary), Pat Underwood, Lynn Brightwell, Jim Underwood (Rita), Sandy Overby (Frank), Richard Underwood (Karrie), daughter-in-law Diane Underwood, 26 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, a brother, Eugene McClure, and several nieces and nephews.
