Michael Prescott Stedman

Michael Prescott Stedman, age 78, of Dunkirk, Maryland passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on November 17, 2024.

Scott was born in Washington, D.C. on April 29, 1946. He graduated from Archbishop Carroll High School in 1964. Scott enlisted in the Navy in 1966, where he spent one year in active reserve, two years active duty in Adak, Alaska, and finished out with four years in inactive reserve. Scott met his future wife, Noreen Egan, on a blind date in 1968. They married in 1970 and moved to Calvert County three years later, where they set the foundation of their lives. They started a family in 1979 with the birth of their son, Michael. Scott and Noreen completed their family of four when they welcomed their daughter, Laura, in 1985. Scott was most proud of his family, which includes his extra-large extended family: sister-in laws, brother-in laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and -nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews. Nothing made Scott happier than being with his loved ones, who will miss him greatly.

Scott is survived by his son, Michael J Stedman (Nichole Miller); his daughter, Laura Handle (David Handle); and grandchildren Dominic Stedman, William Handle, Norah Handle, and Logan Stedman. He is preceded in death by his wife, Noreen Stedman; his mother, Doris Stedman; and his father, Royal Stedman.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 1601 West Mount Harmony Road, Owings, MD 20736 on Friday, November 22, 2024 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 pm. Interment will be private.
