MIGUEL G. VELA, JR.\n1930-2010\nMr. Miguel G. Vela, Jr. of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, beloved husband of Micki Jones Vela, passed away on January 2, 2010, at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland after a gallant five year lung cancer battle.\nMr. Vela was born May 15, 1930, to Rosaura Juarez and Miguel G. Vela, Sr. in San Diego, Texas.\nSurvivors include his wife Micki Vela, his daughter Marie Evita "Chris" Nutsch of Highland Ranch, Colorado, and son Miguel G. Vela III of Upper Marlboro, Maryland and loving stepdaugther Julia Victoria Neumann of Jacksonville, Florida and Anchorage, Alaska; and three sisters, Delia Ibenez of Bay City, Texas, Lollie Epstein of Monroe, Texas, Evita Jo Sawyer of LaPorte, Texas and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.\nAs a decorated Vietnam Veterans Miguel retired from the US Army, Miguel became a dedicated volunteer at Malcolm Grow Hospital at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland. Miguel was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America and the Veterans of the Foreign Wars.\nIn lieu of flowers contributions may be ade to the Cancer Society or Charity of your choice.\nPlease sign our gustbook.
