Milburn Pollard “Bruce” Walker, Sr., 93, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at his Home Away from Home assisted living location in Bladensburg, Maryland. Milburn was born on June 27, 1926 in Vienna, Virginia to the late Robert E. Walker and Helen J. Pollard Walker. His mother passed away suddenly when he was two (2) years old and was later raised by his stepmother, Donnie Burton Walker. He was one of four children; Elton Oliver Walker (deceased 2014) and two half-sisters, Evangeline “Vannie” Moten (deceased 2008) and Jean Walker Blount of Augusta, Georgia. He was educated by the District of Columbia public school system and attended Armstrong High School . Milburn began his career with the Washington Refrigeration Company as a driver and later became a manager at Western Union. After retirement from Western Union, he became a private taxi cab owner, driving for Capitol Cab for many years. Milburn was a founder and active leader of the Anacostia Home Owners and Residents Association (AHRA) since 1968. Milburn is survived by his loving wife, Anna (DeJesus) Walker, to whom he was married for over 70 years. Milburn and Anna were the parents of five children; Milburn, Jr., Linda, Craig, Paula and Paul (deceased 2016 ) He is also survived by grandchildren: David, Milinda and husband (Micheal), Gustav (Butchy) and wife (Kim), Meca ,Anthony, Andre and Latrice ; great grandchildren: Anthony, Michael, Tirece, Talonte, David Jr., Daelyn, Jaylen, and great- great grandchildren: Shania, Zoe, Ahmad, Treasure, Alonzo.Temani, Talaiya, and Adonis.
