Mildred L. Taylor, 74, of Raytown, Mo., passed away July 18, 2013, with her family at her side. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 22, at Floral Hills. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church of Raytown, 9349 East 65th Street, Raytown, MO 64133. Mildred was born in Silver Hill, Md., to Linda Viola and Thomas E. Wood. She graduated from Surrattsville High School and Strayer College in Washington, D.C. She married Joseph C. Taylor and together they had three children, Joe Taylor of New York, NY, Lorrie Taylor of Cleveland, Ohio, and Judy Taylor of Overland Park, Kan. Mildred began her career as an information specialist with the United States Air Force and retired from the U.S. Department of Labor. Mildred is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Joseph, and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her three children, brothers, Walter Wood of Clinton, Md., and Chester Wood of Annapolis, Md.; sisters, Rose Long of Clinton, and Evelyn Larsen of Friendship, Md.; and sister- in-law, Jackie Broadwater of Joplin, Mo.
