Monica Jaqueline Jones

Monica Jacquelynn Jones was born on August 7,1953 in Gary,Indiana to the late Teresa
Netterville and the late Clyde Jones. She departed this life on August 31, 2023 while residing in
Upper Malboro, Maryland.
Monica's younger years were spent in Gary, Indiana and Chicago, Illinois. After the death of her
father, at the age of 14, she moved to Philadelphia, Pennsyvania to live with her aunt and uncle.
Monica graduated from Gratz High School in 1971 and was awarded a Model City Scholarship.
After graduation she attended Howard University for two years before transferring and
graduating from the University of Maryland.
Monica was employed by Amtrak and worked there for 28 years before retiring in 2017. She
enjoyed customer service which allowed her to meet, greet and interact with customers.
Monica loved going out with her friends. She enjoyed all types of entertainment, dancing and
singing and knew all of the words to songs from many different genres. Her greatest passion
was spending time with her Howard Bison family, especially during Homecoming events. Monica
was fond of butterflies and had many butterfly collections around her house. She even had
butterfly jewelry that she wore often.
Monica leaves to cherish her memory her three sisters, Denise Netterville (Roy Cormier) of NY,
Diane Thuai of NV, and Jenny Jones Fant (David) of TX, a nephew, Michael Netterville and
great niece Angelica Netterville, a special friend, Adrienne Spencer of DE and a host of other
family and friends. She also had an extended family of "sisters" that assisted with her care
during her illness.
