Otis McNeil, 93, passed peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Otis was born April 17, 1930 to the late Edward McNeil and Fleeta Brown in Cerro Gordo, North Carolina.
Otis had a deep passion for various activities that brought joy to his life. He found immense pleasure in cooking delicious meals for his family, fishing, exploring new places through traveling, tending to his garden, and lending a helping hand to those in need.
Otis received his education in the Columbus County Public School Systems. However, he had to leave his learning days behind at an early age to support his family. Throughout his life, Otis held various occupations including being a US Soldier, School Bus Driver, Special Police Officer at The Pentagon, Mechanic, and Cab Driver. However, above all else he dedicated himself to doing the Lord's work.
Otis joins in heaven;
His father Edward McNeil, mother Fleeta Brown, brother David McNeil, sisters Elizabeth Chambers and Annie Walls.
Otis is survived by;
His loving daughter Renee Galla, son Gregory McNeil Sr, sister Hazel Colucci, four grandchildren: Lakisha Hayes, Gregory McNeil Jr., Bianca (Eddie) Gamble, and Eston McNeil. Twelve great-grandchildren: Kirsey Crawford, Davida Hayes, David Hayes, Khydra Moon, Iyonda Murray, Kayla Hayes, Jazmyne Green, Shayla McNeil, Kevin McNeil, Amelia Gamble, Charlie Perdue-McNeil, and Theordore McNeil. Two great great-grandchildren Kingston Hayes, Dakota Coles. Additionally, he leaves behind his lifelong friends Eugene "Scoop" Thompson, Jonathan Akers, Montress Moon, Tarlisa Cradle, and a multitude of extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
Family and friends are welcome to gather at Lee Funeral Home, Clinton, Maryland on Saturday December 16, 2023, from 10am, with funeral services beginning at 12pm.
