Parker Eugene Shoemaker of Dunkirk, MD, went to heaven on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 11:45 a.m. in the arms of his parents, surrounded by his family. Parker was born in Annapolis, MD, on November 9, 2014 to the proud parents, Melissa Anne (Harris) and Larry “Gene” Eugene Shoemaker, Jr. At four months old, Parker was diagnosed with Krabbe Disease, a rare degenerative disease that effects the central and peripheral nervous systems and brain. At ten months old, Krabbe took Parker from this world. Although his time on earth was short, he touched so many lives. Parker reminded us to appreciate every day and enjoy the lives we have been given. He is survived by his parents; maternal grandparents, Martin Harris and Catherine Blevins; paternal grandparents, Linda Shoemaker and the late Larry Shoemaker, Sr. He is also survived by Christine and Brett Carter; Jackie Tomlinson; Amanda Portillo; cousins Damian, Jasmine, Valarie, Angelina and numerous other beloved family members and friends. It is the family’s wish to raise awareness for Krabbe Disease. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Parker’s memory to: Hunter’s Hope Foundation, P O Box 643, Orchard Park, NY 14127.
