Patricia Jane Mitchell, “Patsy” of Chesapeake Beach, MD went to walk on heaven’s beach on March 1, 2021. Her earthly struggles behind her, she is reuniting with her loved ones gone before her. Born in Miami, FL to Jane Elizabeth and Ernest C. Mitchell, one of six children. Her family moved a few times before settling into College Park, MD. Patsy attended Berwyn Heights Elementary, Greenbelt Middle and graduated from Parkdale High, Class of 1974. Patsy started working at the Metro as a Parts Purchaser in 1977. It was there that she met Robert L. Oliver and together they had two children. In 1991 Patsy became a member of the Maryland Drum and Fife Corps. The drums sound would roll and thunder and the wooden fires would squeal as they paraded down the street. Patsy could be found right up front and center, twirling batons or performing with flags. With her troupe, they traveled to Europe visiting Italy and Switzerland. Patsy always wanted to do for everyone. She loved to cook, and you would always find her either on the sofa watching the Hallmark Channel or curled up with a Harley Quinn Romance book. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. After retirement, Patsy volunteered during her spare time at “On our Own of Calvert County” a wellness and recovery center. Patsy contributed back to society with her skills at the center. In keeping with Patsy’s loving and generous spirit, it was her decision to donate life so others may live it; she continued life by requesting organ donation at her death.
