Patricia dedicated over 25 years of her life helping disadvantaged, underserved and vulnerable children and adults while working at Melwood, National Children's Center, Cardozo High School and Volunteers of America-Chesapeake. It takes a special person to work in the Human Services field and she was “special”. Prior to her diagnosis, she was in the beginning stages of starting her own consulting business turning her life’s passion into her life’s mission to help other’s. Patricia was a member of Tailor Made Motorcycle and Social Club. Patricia was also big on getting the family together, she was known for her memorial day cookout which we looked forward to year after year. Most times, when there was a dispute, she would say "family is all we got", and she was right. In the last few months of her life we were able to honor her each and every day. And it showed through her son for taking on the task of being her caretaker until the end. Making sure that her last wish was adhered to, being in her bed, surrounded by family. Even in her last moments she managed to whisper words of encouragement saying, “don’t be sad. Patricia was a spark of light, a loving mother, sister, aunt, friend, and co-worker. She will definitely be missed.
