With great sadness, we announce the passing of Penelope Jean Thornton, 85, on December 5, 2024. Born on August 3,1939, “Penny” grew up in Northern California and eventually moved to Maryland where she lived most of her life before moving to Seattle, Washington to live with family. Penny enjoyed playing piano, both for fun and for her local church. She also was a foster parent for close to two hundred foster children across the span of thirteen years. She is survived by sister Barbara Harris, daughter Tamara Hase, and sons Sean Thornton and Kelly Thornton, as well as seven grandchildren; and preceded in death by husband, Raymond W Thornton. Memorial will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Camp Springs, Maryland on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
