Alvin Eugene Thomas “Pete” of Oxon Hill, MD passed peacefully on April 18, 2017 at the age of 70. Born in Crewe, VA, one of three sons of the late Jerline & Walter Thomas. Pete grew up in VA and after his high school graduation, he enlisted into the US Air Force at the age of 18. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1969. After his military discharge, Pete moved to Washington, DC and became a Steamfitter. He worked for the Union, Local 602; and during his career, Pete worked all over the DC region. He met Deatrice “Dee” in 1983. They had an unusual love. Dee was in the hospital and shared a room with another patient. Her roommate received a few visitors, one of them being Pete. They were all having a conversation when Pete promised Dee that on the day she was to be discharged, he would make her a wonderful meal with fried fish. He kept true to his promise and after a long courtship, they were married on December 30, 1994. They were blessed during their marriage with two children. Pete was a very quiet man who was even tempered. Dee would take care of children in their home; but there was one very special child, Caylen Wiley, who grew up loving Pete as a special “Godfather”. Pete loved to play his numbers, enjoyed the casino and for over 50 years, had two special friends, Lawrence and Tyrone. Beloved husband for 22 years of Deatrice C. Thomas “Dee”; loving father of Eugene Maurice Thomas of Washington, DC and Rachel Heather McKinley of Oxon Hill, MD; dear brother of the late Linwood Thomas and his surviving wife Priscilla Thomas of Colonial Heights, VA and the late Charles Thomas and his surviving wife Annie Thomas of Hampton, VA; dear grandfather of Eunique and Eugene Lewis of Washington, DC; nephew of Jennie Jones of Baltimore, MD; uncle of Terrence Green, Sr of Crewe, VA; uncle of Michelle Rivera of Clarksburg, MD; cousin of Keith Hamlin of Baltimore, MD; and special Godfather of Caylen Wiley of Clinton, MD.
