Phillip Edward Jones

Phillip Edward Jones, age 85, of Dunkirk, Maryland, passed away at home on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, with his family by his side.Phillip was born in Kingston, Pennsylvania, on June 3, 1928 to the late Thomas Edward and Emily (Smythe) Jones. He graduated from Annapolis High school and then the University of Baltimore with a degree in Business Management. Prior to college he served in U.S Army as an infantryman from 1946 to 1947.He worked for Baltimore Gas and Electric as a salesman and general manager, where he retired after 40 years of service. He raised his family in Bowie MD and moved to Dunkirk seven years ago. For the last 25 years of his life, he enjoyed his retirement to the fullest spending much of his spare time with his three grandsons. He loved spending time with his family, his music, reading, yard work, working out at the gym, and building model cars as he was a member of the Maryland Automotive Models Association. Phillip was the beloved husband of Joanne (Beard) Jones, who shared a 54 year marriage. He was the loving father of Leslie, Evan and Brian, (son-in-law Doug Lumsden and daughter in-law Sarah). He was the devoted grandfather of Brendan, Thomas and Ryan Lumsden; and brother to Winnie Bowcock, Ruth Jones and James Jones. He is also survived by numerous other family members and friends.
