Philomena Lloyd Pearson, aged 86, passed away peacefully on August 3rd, 2024. Philomena (Ena) was born on October 31,1937, to William Lloyd and Emma McCauley Lloyd, in Derry, Northern Ireland.
Ena is survived by her daughter, Virginia Soboleski (Rob), and sons, Patrick Pearson, and Stephen Pearson (Karen). Ena's wonderful grandchildren include Meghan Pearson, Kayla Scott (Ryan), Patrick Pearson, Grace Soboleski, Rose Soboleski, Samuel Myers, Katelyn Kovach (Matt), and Ashlyn Pearson. She was also blessed with adorable great grandchildren. She was aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was the beloved sister to Maxie Lloyd and Larry Lloyd. She is preceded in death by her husband John H. Pearson, III, daughter Catherine Pearson, son John L. Pearson, both her parents, and her brothers Gerry Lloyd, Billy Lloyd, and Anthony Lloyd.
Ena met the love of her life, John, when he was stationed with the United States Navy in Derry. They married at Saint Eugene's Cathedral in Derry on October 15, 1956, and celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in 2023.
Ena and John raised their family in Beltsville, MD and were active parishioners at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She worked at the Christian Brothers Monastery in Beltsville for several years and formed close bonds with the women and Brothers who worked there. During their retirement years, Ena and John traveled and enjoyed their grandchildren. In 2004 they moved to Owings, MD where they resided till their deaths.
Ena and John were devout Catholics, daily communicants, and dedicated to the Holy Rosary. They were both very active in their church Jesus the Good Shepherd in Owings, MD.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held for both Ena and John at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Friday, August 16th at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will take place following the Mass at the church cemetery. Guests are invited to join the family after in the church hall for a luncheon reception.
