Phyllis Newsome Hinton

Phyllis Newsome Hinton, 87, of Taneytown, MD passed away on October 17, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. Born on September 21, 1934 in Gonyon, VA, she was the daughter of the late Edith Evelyn Hale Newsome and Eddie Newsome. Phyllis was the loving wife of the late William George Hinton whom she married in 1952. She is survived by her children; Catherine E. Beatty (Al) of Union Bridge, MD, William G. Hinton, III (Joy) of Waldorf, MD and Julie Hinton (Chris) of Prince Frederick, MD. Grandchildren; William Hessler Hinton (Kasey), Christina Joy Cederberg (David), Edward William Barton and Andrew Tyler Barton. Great-Grandchildren; William Hinton, Mason Hinton, Kyler Barton, Thomas Cederberg, Sarah Hinton and Hannah Cederberg and her precious angel Macy her cat. Phyllis was employed at the Circuit Court in Prince George’s County, retiring in 2004 after 30 years of service. She was very active with Almas Temple in Washington, D.C. when her husband William was alive. Phyllis was the Former President of The Surratts Democratic Club and a member of the O.E.S. Phyllis enjoyed doing puzzles, watching soap operas, collecting Precious Moments Figurines, listening to Country Music especially Blake Shelton and Alan Jackson and was a Baltimore Orioles Fan. The family will receive friends at Lee Funeral Home Calvert 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736 on Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM and from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Calvary United Methodist Church 7647 History Land Highway (Rte. 3) Emmerton, VA 22572 where a Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM.
