Raymond H. DeCatur, Jr. was born in Washington DC to the late Raymond and Kathleen DeCatur on June 9, 1924. He and his wife, the late Eleanor Colburn DeCatur, had three children, Raymond H. Decatur, III (Carol), Peggy Ann Bekavac (Blaise) and Linda Hinkle (Gene).\n \n \n \nMr. DeCatur was a member of the United States Coast Guard. By trade he was a carpenter. He earned his captains license and loved to captain his boat. He was an artist in his craft and a master of all trades. He built his own home from old marine buildings and built each of his children their homes.\n \n \n \nRaymond’s life revolved around his family and friends, there is nothing he would not do for those he loved. He was a giving, open kind hearted man. He was full of knowledge and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others. He loved to teach and guide others. He always reminded his children “Don’t forget where you came from.”\n \n \n \n Raymond was loved by all that knew him. Survivors include; grandchildren, Lynda Gail, Joey, Kevin, Tracy, J.R. and Matt, great grandchildren; Ricko, Jake, Rebecca, Shannon, Little Joe and Emily, great grand children, Ella Rae and Sean, and a sister, Peach Rider.\n \n \n \n
