Raymond “Ray” Philippe Gignac, 83, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at HPH Hospice House in Dade City, Florida, following a brief illness. Born in Portland, Maine on October 5, 1931, he was the son of the late Louis Philippe Gignac and Almeda Christine Burton. He then went on to join the United States Navy in May of 1950 where he served until April 1960. Ray then re-enlisted into the United States Naval Reserves in January 1981 until January 1991. Between his 1960-1970 service times he was able to achieve his master plumbers license and then operated his own company for many years before fully retiring. When he finally decided to fully retire Ray moved to Florida’s west coast to live out the remainder of his life. He was predeceased by his loving wife Mary Evaughn Gignac, one brother Louis Harland Gignac and three sisters, Joan Gignac, Mary Gignac and Sonja. He is survived by his loving dog Pepper, two brothers Joseph E. Gignac, Peter Gignac, three sisters Paula DuFresne, Debbie Hilsabeck & Linda Anderson. As well as three sons, Paul Nixon, Raymond Gignac (Ron), Michael Gignac (Kimberly), daughter Lorraine Caron (Fred) & stepdaughter Cheryl Magallanes (Maggie). In addition to, 18 Grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
