Raymond Thomas Jones, Sr.

Raymond Thomas Jones Sr, 80, of Suitland, MD, passed away on October 7, 2024.

Tom was born on March 12, 1944 by his father Harry Jones Sr. and mother Grace Jones in Salem, NJ. After Tom graduated from High School, he enlisted in The United States Navy. He served almost 30 years in the Navy and retired on April 30, 1992 as a very proud, Navy Chief. He had served over in Vietnam and until his last breath was proud to have served in the Navy, protecting our great nation and as a Navy Chief.

In his years, Tom and Phyllis (wife) were married and had Four children, Raymond Thomas Jones Jr. (Tommy), Richard Jones (Deceased), Russell Jones (Rusty) & Randall Jones (Randy).

In 1992, Tom retired from the Navy and then continued his career as a corporate accountant and also spent his leisure time serving at The Fleet Reserve & The American Legion. The FRA and American Legion was his home away from home as he loved to dedicate his time to honor others that have served in the Arm Forces.

Tom was predeceased by his Parents (Harry Jones Sr. \Grace Jones) and siblings (Harry Jones Jr., Bob Jones, John Jones, Frank Jones & Marie Sumey. He is survived by his children Tommy (Wendy), Rusty (Yvonne), Randy (Michelle), his grandchildren Amanda, Steven, Caitlin, Samantha, Megan, Cody, Timothy, Sophia & Zoey.

Services will be held at Lee Funeral Home, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736 on October 28th between 10 -12 PM. He will lay to rest in Cheltenham Veterans cemetery with his Wife, Phyllis Jones and son, Richard Singhammer located at 11301 Crain Highway Cheltenham, Maryland 20623 on October 29th 2024 at 10:30 AM.
