Reda Taylor Ashby (Age 88)On Wednesday, February 4, 2004, Reda T. Ashby, 88, died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Lothian, Maryland. Reda lived in Lothian, Maryland for over 15 years. She is the beloved wife of 59 years to the late John Randolph Ashby and loving mother of Wayne and Keith Ashby and Catherine Meier. She is also grandmother of 10 and sister of Frederick Taylor of Luray, Virginia. Reda was born in Stanley, Virginia and grew up in Luray, Virginia. In 1941, Reda married John Randolph Ashby. They lived in Cheverly Manor, Maryland for 10 years and then moved to Mitchellville, Maryland and lived there for 32 years before moving to Lothian, Maryland. Reda was a full time homemaker raising three children. She enjoyed being around his family especially her grandchildren. She lived for her family. She also enjoyed painting with watercolors, gardening, canning, cooking especially baking her famous honey-apple pie, and family events. Family and friends were always welcome to dinner. Reda was devoted to her church. Landover Christian Church in Cheverly, Maryland and then Graces Brethren Church of Calvert County in Owings, Maryland. Family will receive friends at the Lee Funeral Home Calvert, P.A., 8125 Southern Maryland Blvd. (Route 4 & Fowler Road) Owings, Maryland on Tuesday, February 10th, 2004 from 2 - 4 p.m. & 7 - 9 p.m. Service will be held at Grace Brethren Church of Calvert County, 9870 Old Solomons Island Road (Route 2 & 260) Owings, Maryland on Wednesday, February 11th, 2004 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robert Wagner officiating. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, Maryland.
