Reid Katan

Reid Katan Reid Katan, 72, of Sunderland, MD, died on Monday, January 29, 2007. He is survived by his wife, Patricia M. Katan; children, Craig A., Michael S., Reid C., Maureen E. and Katherine L. Katan; sister, Nancy A. Hutton; 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Reid was born on May 25, 1934 in New Milford, CT, son of the late Clarence L. and Shirley A. Katan. Reid grew up in nearby Marbledale, CT. He enlisted in the US Navy serving on the USS Hornet Aircraft Carrier during the Korean War. For 23 years, Reid was a bass in the Knights of Harmony, Barbershop Society in Bowie, MD performing at various functions through the years. His other hobbies included being a member of the Clan Donnachaidh Society which brought his Scottish heritage closer to home. Reid retired after 30 years from the Census Bureau as a computer analyst. He and his wife, Patricia are active members at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church of Leeland in Upper Marlboro, MD. In 2004 they moved from Upper Marlboro to Sunderland. A memorial service will be held at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church of Leeland, 14111 Oak Grove Rd., Upper Marlboro, MD on Saturday, February 24 at 11 am. Interment private.
