He is also survived by his loving daughter, Kim Painter; one granddaughter, Kelly Painter, one brother, Dr. Ralph "Pete" Ballard. He served in WWII from 1942 to 1948. While in the Navy, he served on the U.S.S. Lexington and the U.S.S. Gilbert Island as AMM1C.
