Richard Warwick Kriner

Richard Warwick Kriner, 83, of Mount Clare, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, February 24, 2015, at his home with his family after a lengthy illness. Richard was born in Washington, DC on September 17, 1931, the only son of the late Earl Franklin Kriner & Mamie Kriner (Chialastri). He is survived by three sons, Michael Kriner & wife Lisa of Dunkirk, MD; James Kriner & wife Therese of Clarksburg; and Vincent Kriner of Mount Clare; four daughters, Karen Ingram & husband Mike of Mount Clare; Janis Vosh & husband David of Upper Marlboro, MD; Marie Dockins & husband Dan of Myrtle Beach, SC; and Teresa Harper & husband John of Clarksburg. He also leaves behind several grandchildren & great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fernanda, and a son, Patrick Kriner in 2008. He served during the Korean War in the US Navy from 1952- 1955, serving on the USS Waller. He worked as a Marble Setter on famous buildings in Washington, DC, and then was a route sales/distributor for Wise, Mann’s, and Archway Cookies in the Greater Metropolitan Areas of Washington DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland Suburban, retiring in 1995. He moved to WV with 2 other family members in Nov. 1999. When he was a teenager he was an usher at a movie theater which influenced his love of early Classic Movies & Westerns. He had great love for music, including early musicals with song and dance numbers; he caught up in the wave of folk music in the early ‘60’s; loved church hymns; got involved in barbershop quartet; popular, Rock ’n Roll, and opera. He was the “King of Karaoke”. He also loved horse racing, especially the Kentucky Derby and he had worked at Rosecroft Raceway where he bet on Harness Racing. He had also coached the Silver Hill MD Boys & Girls Club. He attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help until September 2014, when his illness prevented him from going. His biggest asset was his love of family, playing with the children, big meals and get-togethers, sing-a-longs, and plenty of Italian food, especially spaghetti, meatballs, and lasagna.
