Rita Zmyslowski Carney Anderson
January 19, 1919 – January 1, 2025 Rita passed peacefully at her home on January 1, 2025. She was predeceased by her parents, siblings, her husband Walter Carney, her daughter Cathleen, and two sons-in-law. She was also predeceased by second husband Carl Anderson and his son Phillip. She is survived by four daughters: Linda Carney (Brad-D), Caren Carney, Eileen Richards (Jimmy-D), and Diane Carney, eight grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren as well as many loving nieces and nephews and Carl’s daughter Barbara Anderson (Edward).
Rita was raised in Worcester, Massachusetts where she attended school and was an active member of the Polish Club. She loved music, dancing, and playing her violin. She worked for an attorney, which she said was difficult, but where she learned to keep meticulous records. She said that job was very helpful when she left Worcester. During WWII she moved to Washington D.C. to support the war effort. She worked for the Navy Department and eventually transitioned to the Air Force at Andrews Air Force Base. After retiring from her successful government career, she enjoyed travelling with Walter and her many friends learning about other cultures and seeing places she had read about over the years. She returned to her home in Clinton after the death of her second husband.
Rita had a wonderfully long and fulfilled life. Her Polish heritage was important to her, and she enjoyed those traditions. She was kind, generous and loved her family deeply. She enjoyed playing cards and board games with her great grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed.
