Robert Lee Belkofer (82) went to his eternal home to be with his Lord and Savior on 28 Sep 22. He died from complications of Parkinson’s which he valiantly fought but suffered from for over 7 years. He died at home peacefully with his loving family by his side. Bob was an extremely kind, selfless, generous, creative, gentle and very witty man. He dressed to the nines and was a perfectionist with all his work (Not even letting his wife iron for him!). He was a master craftsman and could make anything. He was very talented and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He shied away from the spotlight but was always dependable and supportive and would work tirelessly behind the scenes. He definitely had a servant’s heart always putting others first. He loved his Lord and Savior and served in different ways at his church as a shepherd in the drive thru at Christmas time and as a 3 year old Sunday School assistant for several years. He was quiet but sincere with his worship.
Bob was born to Frank and Florence Belkofer on 21 Sep 1940 in Toledo, Ohio. As a youngster he was a renowned drag racer. He won all his races except for the very last one. Over the years he won many trophies. Additionally Bob started bowling as a teenager and became quite good helping his team win the ABC League championship in 1958-59. He continued bowling through most of his working years, earning an average that was envied by many. He enlisted in the Navy in 1962 traveling to San Diego for boot camp and served almost 4 ½ years. He was the honor graduate in his A School and chose the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) for his duty station. After honorably serving in the Navy, he was hired as a civilian analyst for Navy Intelligence and worked for 35 years, earning several awards and recognition, retiring in 1997.
At ONI, he met his wife, Lisa Olson. They were married on 20 Mar 1987 and shared 35 wonderful years. He was a thoughtful, loving, giving and amazing husband and father. He made us laugh, cooked all the meals, cared for our house and property (to the point people wanted to hire him for their lawn care) and was always ready to meet our needs and serve. At his daughter’s sleepovers, he would take breakfast orders and make anything they wanted. He was playful and enjoyed being silly. He was truly an incredible and good man. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Florence Belkofer and by his son, Kevin Robert Belkofer (44 from brain cancer). He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa, adoring daughter Laura, daughter in law, Amber and his twin grandsons, Ty and Justin. Brother and sister in-laws, Richard Olson, Cynthia and Stephen Manock, Ruth and Guy Busch, and niece and nephew, Hannah and Joshua Busch.
