Robert “Bob” Joseph Dickinson went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 30th, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at his home in Owings, MD.
Robert “Bob” Dickinson is preceded in passing by his mother, Janet Dickinson, his father, Robert “Bob” Ditzler Dickinson, and his Brother-in-Law, Frank Boling.
"He is survived by his wife, Joanne C. Dickinson, his three children, Robert Dickinson II (Denise "Linda") of Lynchburg, VA, Jeffrey Dickinson (Marguerite "Penny") of Nanjemoy, MD, and Jennifer McDaniel (Brian) of Huntingtown, MD, his sister-in-law, Susan "Diane" Boling, his brother-in-law, John Boling (Joyce) of Waldorf, MD, his 9 grandchildren: Justin Dickinson, Jose “Tony” Poblador, Brandon Poblador, Robert “Dillion” Poblador, Robert “Joe” Dickinson III, Michael Dickinson, Thomas “Andy” Dickinson, Kylie McDaniel, and Aaron McDaniel, and 12 great-grandchildren."
Bob was born in Washington, DC, on October 21, 1943. He attended Linton Hall Military School in Barstow, VA, Mt. Calvary Elementary School and Suitland Senior High School. Bob enlisted in his senior year in high school in the United States Marine Corps. After basic training at Parris Island, North Carolina, Bob deployed to Okinawa, Japan, and Quantico, VA. Later, Bob served 30 years as a firefighter/EMT at the Forestville Volunteer Fire Department - Station 23. He retired as Chief at age 75. He also served 10 years in the Office of Emergency Preparedness (now Office of Emergency Management) where he rose to the rank of Captain; and the Knights of Columbus Catholic Fraternal Organization as Counselor to the Squires Program. Throughout his life, Bob received numerous awards and recognition for his leadership abilities, determination, and hard work.
The family will receive friends at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736 on Monday, April 8, 2024 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm where a Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel with Steve Forrester of Life Church Calvert officiating. Interment will follow at Southern Memorial Gardens Cemetery 10155 Ward Road, Dunkirk, MD 20754.
